A grounded, human approach to therapy
Life can be deeply rewarding. However, it can also be unexpectedly challenging.
Like many people I now work with, I spent years navigating the pressures of modern life and a demanding career. During that time, I carried stress quietly and pushed on. Eventually, my inner world began to demand attention.
Burnout became a turning point. For the first time, I stopped and allowed myself to seek support. The therapy I experienced during this period was genuinely life-changing. It helped me recognise long-standing patterns, challenge limiting beliefs, and reconnect with parts of myself that had been overlooked. As a result, my understanding of both myself and others deepened.
Training, experience, and professional grounding
Out of that experience grew a clear desire to support others facing similar struggles. Because of this, I retrained as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor.
I qualified in April 2024 with a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am NCPS Accredited and BACP Registered. Alongside my private practice, I have worked for over two years as a counsellor with Mind (Herefordshire). In this role, I have supported clients with a wide range of emotional and mental health difficulties.
Importantly, this work keeps me grounded in ethical, accessible, and trauma-informed practice.
Mindfulness and meditation
Alongside counselling, mindfulness and meditation have played an important role in my own wellbeing for many years.
In my mid-twenties, I began practising meditation as a way of managing stress and developing steadiness. Later, I trained with the British School of Meditation, where I gained a Meditation Teacher Diploma. Where appropriate, I gently integrate mindfulness-based approaches into therapy. This can help clients regulate their nervous system and develop greater self-awareness.
Ongoing development and areas of interest
I am committed to ongoing professional development. As a result, I regularly undertake training to ensure my work remains safe, ethical, and responsive.
Recent areas of training include trauma-informed practice, substance use interventions, and suicide prevention. In addition, I have lived experience of 12-step recovery communities. This background informs my work with clients navigating addiction, compulsive behaviours, shame, and self-criticism. These themes are always held within clear professional boundaries.
How I work with clients
My approach is person-centred, which means our work is shaped around you rather than a fixed agenda or technique.
I do not position myself as an “expert” with answers to impose. Instead, I offer a calm and confidential space where you can speak freely. Together, we explore what is happening beneath the surface. Over time, this can support greater clarity, resilience, and self-trust.
Most importantly, we work at your pace.
