empowering change, nurturing growth

Your pain doesn’t need a title to deserve therapy. I take a person-centered approach. Your experience is what matters, not a diagnosis.

Life can be really tough at times and it is human to have an emotional response to pain and distress.

Are you finding life difficult but feel unable to talk to family or friends about what is troubling you?
Perhaps you have known for a long time you need to address something, but have kept putting it off?
Do you feel lost or stuck in your life?
Maybe you want to feel like the ‘old you’ again?

What I Do

I provide a warm, supportive space for you to explore your concerns and make sense of life’s challenges. Whether you’re feeling anxious, stressed, unhappy, or simply stuck, I can help.

Sharing our stories of what has happened to us, rather than thinking there is something wrong with us, can be incredibly healing.

Together, we’ll work at your pace to:

– Understand your emotions
– Unravel difficult experiences
– Make positive changes

My Counselling Style

I use a collaborative approach, drawing on different therapy styles like Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) to help you discover your own strengths and find solutions that work best for you. This might also involve exploring thoughts and feelings like in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or looking at past experiences that might be affecting the present (similar to Psychodynamic Therapy). Sometimes, focusing on the present moment and how you’re experiencing things can be helpful, too (like in Gestalt therapy). Ultimately, I tailor our sessions to your unique needs and goals.

I aim to create a comfortable, non-judgmental environment by demonstrating congruence (genuineness), empathy, and unconditional positive regard toward my clients while using a non-directive approach.

Format

On-line Therapy
Video call sessions are via Google Meet. If you have a laptop, tablet or mobile phone and privacy, this can be a great option. Staying in the comfort of your own home saves the anxiety of ‘other people’ and saves travelling time. However, if your own home is what you need to escape, leaving the house with your phone and some headphones to attend the video call on the move or in a safe place can also work.

Phone call
Maximum accessibility for those who need it. Potentially less effective due to the lack of visual and physical cues, but still a viable option in combination with video calls as a means of maintaining consistency.

Frequency

Counselling is a commitment to yourself and at the beginning I believe it can be most beneficial to meet weekly. However some clients do have fortnightly sessions and later, even once a month – I am open to finding out what suits you best. I am also flexible with session times and can work around shift patterns.

I’m currently able to offer weekday evening appointments and weekend daytime appointments. I try to be as flexible as possible to meet with clients’ other commitments.

Fees

Counselling sessions cost £40 for 50 minutes.

I am able to offer a limited number of low-cost sessions for counselling students. If you are a counsellor in training, please ask me about reduced rate options.

What To Expect

A Free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs and see if we’re a good fit.

Flexible scheduling with weekday evening and weekend appointments available.

Remote sessions via video call or phone for your convenience.

Affordable rates with options for low-income clients.

A safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly.

Our First Session

After your initial contact, I offer a complimentary 15 minute telephone call. This is a chance for us to briefly discuss the issues you’re hoping to address in counselling and for us both to get a sense of how we might work together.

In our first session we will explore what the focus of our work might be and get a sense of what meeting together might feel like. This session is not just about me understanding you, but also about you gauging how comfortable and heard you feel with me as your counsellor. It is also an opportunity to ask any questions you have. There’s absolutely no obligation to schedule further sessions after our initial meeting.
